Designer(s) Feature: Vogue Knitting Fall 2018

Meghan and I just discussed our realistic-yet-still-ambitious Rhinebeck sweater goals, which can only mean one thing: Fall is almost here! We’re on the tail end of a completely insane eighteen months that included a lot of emotional ups and downs, a(nother) new baby for Courtney, and the design, marketing, and release of 4 new yarns. (Look for #4 later in the month!) There has been absolutely zero time for even considering a garment for myself in over a year (I think this was the last thing I knit that wasn’t related to yarn or pattern development), so I am super excited to see my sweater come to fruition. I know I am not alone in dreaming of all the new possibilities fall has to offer, and the release of the latest Vogue Knitting is filled with potential and inspiration. There are not one, but two designs in the issue featuring our very own Scout, the Asymmetric Triangular Shawl by Isabel Kraemer, and the A Line Tunic by Amy Herzog! The Asymmetric Triangular Shawl is worked from the narrow point to the wide ribbed edge, it features a geometric lace pattern and asymmetrical increases. A large, wide wrap, it would be perfect for throwing on while cosying up in front of the fire, or to wind around your neck and shoulders to stave off the chill. SPECIFICATIONS Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Scout, Graphite Heather, 3 skeins. Gauge: 18 sts and 26 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch, after blocking. Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm). Size: 43” (109 cm) width, 55” (139.5 cm) length. The A Line Tunic is worked in the round from the bottom up and features a colorwork band at the bottom, fitted sleeves, a deep colorwork yoke and funnel neck. The lovely graphite and gray heather is contrasted with sunflower and blue heather, for a small pop of color on a neutral ground. SPECIFICATIONS Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Scout, Graphite Heather, 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 7) skeins, Gray Heather, Sunflower Heather, Blue Heather, 1 skein each. Gauge: 22 sts and 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch, after blocking. Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) and US 8 (5 mm).
